As part of the Japan Expo in France, a photo exhibition title "JAPANESE GRAVURE IDOLS - Boy meets Girl" will be held, presenting photo of the various Gravure Idols in the popular magazine "Weekly Young Jump" over the past 20 years... And how much I wish to be in France...

According to the official website, the exhibition "aims at presenting this Japanese photo genre to the French public."

And for those of you who are unaware of "Gravure", the website defines it as the following:

"Gravure is neither erotic photos, nor fashion photos, but a genre that developed in Japan in the 70s, along with rotogravure and photo printing on coated paper. As pioneers in this field, magazines such as Playboy or Myojo dedicated several pages of gravure photos to young current stars.
The phenomenon of gravure idols got really on the rise in weekly manga magazines for young adults, or seinen manga, in the 90s, with a new interpretation of the gravure genre, specific to manga. Gravure then became an important cultural industry which launched many young female talents.
Among the thirty something gravure titles published today, Weekly Young Jump, published by Shueisha and aimed at teenage boys, is a giant and overlooks the industry thanks to more than 700,000 copies sold every week.*

As a sweet bonus, actress/model Natsuna will be making a special guest appearance for a autograph and photo session! Yes, photo session!

Let's just hope she bring this little number (minus the goggles) with her

The exhibition will be held on 4-7 July 2013  at the Parc d'exposition Paris-Nord Villepinte.
