Japan Film News: "Wreck-it Ralph" character Vanellope based off AKB48 member Ami Maeda?

Disney’s CG film “Wreck-it-Ralph” (or “Sugar Rush” in Japan) was quite good. So good that in fact everyone mistakenly thought it was a Pixar film.

If you think of the film as a metaphor for the relationship between Pixar and Disney, it gets a whole lot more depressing...

"But what does Wreck-it-Ralph have to do with Japan?" you may ask... Well actually, Japan's top idol group "AKB48" provided a song for the soundtrack aptly called "Sugar Rush".

It's also one the most disturbingly cute music videos ever...

Also, rumors have been circulating that AKB48 member Ami Maeda resembles the character Vanellope. Some people believe that the character design may have been based off Ami. Check out the resembles for yourself:

Yes, the resemblance aside, do you really think that the character designers at Disney picking the Japanese pop idol despite her not being a primary member of the group? I mean she didn't even feature in the Music Video or even provide any vocals for the song "Sugar Rush"...

"Shut up... This is my chance to shine... I need this..."

What's more plausible? Maybe being based off Sarah Silverman who provided the voice for the character?
